Dancing to Balkan Beats
When you crash your direction is interrupted, “you” are interrupted, and you might never be the same. With experiences of grief there is a similar effect. When losing someone, life reveals itself to you in different ways. With this piece I wanted to explore this in relation to my own experiences of losing loved one.
Pia Hansen is a writer and vocal artist who plays with loops of sound and poetry to create music and art work. She is forever fascinated by what makes us human and has done extensive work in the social care sector. She loves working with people and she offers workshops on collaborative vocal improvisation, traditional laments, and voice work to support well-being. Her family roots are Finnish and Danish and she moved to Finland from London in 2020 with her small family.
